So I guess Chevy is using a Maloo as the "Mid Engine Corvette" protype

I'm not sure its actually a mid-engined corvette, but either way this think looks freaking insane. I want. Also it's kinda awesome that spy photographers are using drones now.

Edit: obviously this is a development mule used to test the (a) drivetrain in very early stages. Car and Driver said it was a mid-engined corvette prototype, but I don't believe it. I only said it because they got the pics.

It's a Cadillac, that's my guess.

XLR's spiritual successor, perhaps?

I find that idea far more appealing than the Corvette going RMR.

I think it's funny that people always say "mid engined corvette" a mid engined corvette is NEVER EVER going to happen. A mid engined car by GM will not be called "corvette" it might even not be sold by Chevrolet but by Cadillac

I just don't see GM's baby going RMR.

It's had so many flirtations with that in the past, though. The C4 would have been RMR if GM hadn't run into financial trouble and told them to go back and play it safe. The C5 as well.

Personally, I think that at this point if it goes RMR it's not a Corvette anymore, just like a 911 switching to RMR wouldn't be a 911 anymore (it would be a Cayman :p).

I'd be totally okay with Corvette becoming a brand applied to multiple cars, though. There is the Corvette as the FMR car we all know and love, and then whatever number of alt models in various sporting configurations . Call the RMR one the Zora. Not sure what to call the 2+2, though.

I believe that it is a mid-engined Vette development mule. I still don't believe that it will actually be put into production. I'd actually rather have this, than the Vette anyways :)

15/10, would hoon until the end of days. But I want it just like that, that color, those fenders, those exposed fasteners. The only change I would make is getting rid of that weird extra rear bumper business.

I'm guessing it's a movie or TV car. No real automotive prototype from a capable auto manufacture would have a wing installation as sloppy as that.

why would a movie or tv car be hidden like this? and have a technician with a laptop in the seat? function over form

I think that is probably a mid engined chassis test car. But it still doesn't mean that the next Corvette (or other GM product) will be mid engined. But it does mean that the GM is considering mid engine production model up to the point that a test car has been assembled.

A mid engined concept car is likely to appear before a new production version has been decided.

The appearance is a bit weird as it has quite finished looking body but it doesn't have much sense. And what might the purpose of that push plate in the rear? Maybe they are just trying to get attention with this contraption.

It just looks like amateur hour on the wing installation. I'm trying to track down where this photo was taken. It looks a little bit like the big circle track at the Milford proving grounds. If that's the case, I'll believe it's a real GM mule. If it's off somewhere else, I'm dubious.

The left two photos are of Milford from Google maps. The right two are the spy photos for comparison.

Battery powered? Drive it till it's dead and push it back to the barn?
